IMPORTANT:
In November 2024, the major version, 6.0.0, was released. Version 6.x, including the latest 6.1.0 are different from version 5.x, and we strongly recommend that you visit the Installation Guides first to familiarize yourself with the changes.
NOTE:
In this release, we have identified an issue where you might encounter an error, stating „Applying updates failed“ when updating via Cockpit > Software Updates. This is due to an issue with the Red Hat Cockpit component.
- To resolve the error, run dnf upgrade from the command line. Future updates via Cockpit should be unaffected.
- For more information, see this knowledge article in the Fortra Support Portal.
Enhancements
- Support for WebP image format has been added to the „Which Media Types“ clause as a detectable file type. This strengthens the detection capability of applicable content rules.
- A new site „dss-ib.netstar-inc.com“ is going to be implemented on 2025/July/15 as one of the hosts used for Internet categorization. The Gateway product component has been updated to accomodate this change. You are also requested to adjust your firewall settings (TCP/443) to allow outbound access to it.
- The maximum data size for the following locations have been increased from 16 GB to 1 TB:
- Download/Upload Size Restriction under the Global Web Policy
- Download Size Restriction clause in the Size bypass content rule
- Size Restriction clause in the Analyze Properties, Detect Lexical Expression, Detect Media Types and Redact Text content rules

Fixes
- Resolved an issue where multiple broken updates by Sophos anti-virus caused the Sophos and engine services to fail.
- Resolved an issue where Sophos updates failed. Its AV definitions can now be reset by running the script (reset_sophos.sh script).
- Under System > Version & License > Installed Version & Upgrades > Current Version, messages have been adjusted, so reboot is no longer required when there are no packages available.
- Resolved an issue with the Sanitize Document Content content rule, where images in content became distorted after being processed.
- Resolved an issue where scanning or redacting CSV, SSV or TSSV files did not work as intended. These file types have now been added as the detectable file types of the Detect media types content rule.
- Adjusted the handling of JSP script files to ensure the detection of malicious JSP files.
- Resolved an issue where DNS failed to resolve special domain names (e.g. .test), causing joining of domains which such names to fail.
- Resolved an issue where the User Activity report displays no results when filtering it by User, using a username with a backslash.
